Why Choose Kelmscott Dental for Wisdom Teeth Removal?

  • Expert Care by Dr Rainer Anderson: Dr Anderson is a skilled dental surgeon with extensive experience in simple and complex wisdom teeth removal both surgically and non-surgically.
  • No Referral Needed: You can book directly with Kelmscott Dental for a consultation and treatment, saving you time and hassle.
  • Advanced Diagnostic Imaging: During your consultation, Dr Anderson will assess the complexity of your wisdom teeth using an OPG x-ray. If you’ve had an OPG x-ray in the past 12 months, we can use that to avoid additional cost. In some cases, a 3D CBCT scan may be required for more detailed imaging, especially if wisdom teeth are located close to nerves or are severely impacted. We can provide a CBCT scan onsite.

Wisdom Tooth Removal Under IV Sedation (Sleep Dentistry)

  • Cost-Effective: Seeing a general dentist for wisdom tooth removal is more affordable than seeing a specialist dentist and paying specialist fees*. During your consultation, Dr Rainer can determine your treatment complexity and tailor an appropriate treatment plan for your individual needs. *In some cases, Dr Rainer will refer patients to a specialist if they have very complex treatment needs.
  • No Hospital Fees: IV sedation ( also known as sleep dentistry) is provided at our practice, which removes the need for hospital admittance and associated costs.
  • Suitable for Anxious Patients: IV sedation is a suitable option for anxious patients, as it allows you to sleep comfortably throughout treatment. It ensures a pain-free and stress-free experience.
  • Administered by an Anaesthetist: A qualified anaesthetist administers sedation intravenously and monitors your vitals while your dentist carefully and gently removes your wisdom teeth. You will be completely asleep and have no recollection of the procedure, ensuring a comfortable and pain-free experience.
  • Fast Recovery: IV sedation has fewer risks and a quicker recovery time compared to general anaesthesia in a hospital setting.

If you’re experiencing pain from impacted wisdom teeth, book a consult with Dr Rainer Anderson.

Extraction and IV sedation costs and item codes

* If you’ve had an OPG x-ray with us or with another dentist in the past 12 months, this x-ray can be used for your treatment, and you will not be charged this cost.

**Dr Rainer can determine your treatment complexity and tailor an appropriate treatment plan for your individual needs.

Anaesthetist Fee

A qualified anaesthetist visits the practice for treatment under IV sedation. This fee is billed separately from a dentist. An invoice is provided to the patient who directly pays the anaesthetist, rather than the dentist.

Anaesthetist fees are billed according to length of treatment time starting with the first hour, and then in half hour blocks thereafter. It takes an hour to remove four wisdom teeth.

If you have a Medicare card, you will receive a medicare rebate. Concession card holders and Family Tax Benefit A holders typically receive an increased rebate amount back.
